What did I like? Nothing.
When I arrived, there was an envelope pinned to the door, with my name on. Inside was a room key, a tick list of things to order for breakfast and a note with the opening times of the bar and resturant, which said that they were closed Sunday and Monday.I Was staying Monday night. I saw the proprietor, who was most unhelpful, could not reccomend somewhere to eat, eventually I drove six miles before finding somewhere suitable. No mobile signal, no phone in the room, very weak wifi which kept losing signal. The room was tiny, the only furniture being a bedside cupboard, chair and wardrobe. The tea/coffee facilities were housed in the wardrobe. Bed was uncomfortable. Breakfast was nothing special. Totally overpriced. Would I stay again, not a chance
the landlady was very welcoming and helpful the accommodation was of a good standard
It is a charming old country pub/inn. It has lots of old world character which we really liked, low ceilings with small windows and old exposed wooden beams. It was lovely place to have dinner and breakfast the following morning in the cosy dining area. Food was very good with varied menu. We liked the feel of the place and the way it was part of a small village. The lady who owns/runs the place was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. I would stay there again.
The room we had was a bit on the small side and so was the ensuite but it was clean and comfortable. We did have some trouble finding it.
Superb food freindly helpfull staff and a clean modern comfy room
Absolutely fabulous room, really friendly proprietors and the most beautiful breakfast I have ever seen (or eaten!). Really lovely location and terrific value for money. We loved it, and only wish we could have stayed longer. Next time, we'll definitely go for a champagne breakfast!
Clean, lovely environment and scenery. Close to Longleat which is why we chose it. Good value for money
Food was very "poncey" although very nice No food available on a Monday although we did know in advance Expected good pub food
Exceeded our expectations. The room was modern decorated nicely and more importantly Clean. The staff were friendly and helpful and the meals were fantastic. I could not fault anything about this lovely village inn. A+
Pleasant and comfortable room - great atmospheric rustic pub with good food. Staff/owners very helpful
Noise was a problem - entrance to 3 rooms was creeky and door constantly banged - easily here voices of other guests in their room next door
The Inn is in a small village in the middle of the Wiltshire countryside. A lovely, quiet setting. A very good standard of food, particularly the cooked breakfast, using locally sourced, fresh ingredients. A plentiful supply of tea and coffee available in room with home made biscuits. A really, really comfortable bed. The best I have found after many similar breaks. Hotel proprietors were friendly but not intrusive and responded very professionally when we rejected a bottle of wine on first tasting at dinner on our first night. (something we have never done before!).
Used cups /saucers on tea and coffee tray in room were not washed as part of daily room clean. Single shampoo and shower gel for two people in double room, were not replaced when used up, during 3 day stay. One bath towel provided for each person but no hand towels. These were provided on request. Towels were not changed during 3 day stay. The room size was adequate but small windows made it feel quite dark and poky. However, overall we enjoyed our stay.
Excellent staff who were welcoming and cheerful from the minute I walked into through to check out. In a wonderful location, even though the warren of country roads are a bit difficult to navigate when there is only one of you travelling!
I was given a very warm welcome when I arrived and was taken to my room to ensure I was happy with it. I was very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food. I would definately stay here again.
The room was slightly cold
tranquil area for anyone who loves the countryside birds/wildlife in abundance, first class accomadation food and staff.
ambience and helpfulness
food was good but very small nouvelle cuisine style servings
The staff were very welcoming, helpful and unintrusive. The evening menu was unusual and quite adventurous - ideal for diners / guests who like original and varied dishes. The quality and freshness of all the ingredients and the presentation of each plate was exceptional! The location of the Vobster Inn is great - only 20 to 30 minutes from all the local attractions / places of interest in the area, yet the setting is quite rural and relaxing. The twin room we stayed in was compact, but sufficient for an overnight stay. We would definately return when in the area again.
Most of the exterior windows look tired and in need of either redecoration and/or replacement. Unfortunately this lets down the external appearance of the place a little.
Clean, Tidy and comfortable rooms. Friendly staff.
Please, please shoot the cockerel that woke us up at 4am. Would not stay again whilst they have still got that noisy bird.
